It’s been a very busy winter so far.
The weather has been wild here in South West Cornwall relentless wind, heavy rain, and at one point we even lost electricity for three whole days. Three days of candles, blankets and realising just how much we rely on quiet background comforts.
But in the middle of the storms, something beautiful has been growing.
My creative community, Smidgen of Calm, is thriving. It’s a gentle, supportive space for people who want to reconnect with their creativity without pressure or perfection. A place for artist dates, journalling, playful prompts, and honest conversations whether you’re an artist, a creative-at-heart, or simply craving a little more calm.
We are now 45 amazing members strong, and this season has truly been about connection. Real conversations. Shared creativity. Encouragement. Gentle accountability. Watching people show up for themselves and for each other has been one of the most grounding parts of my winter.
While the outside world has felt noisy and unpredictable, this little corner of the internet has felt steady. Intentional. Kind.
I’ve also started filming my artist dates, which feels both exciting and slightly nerve-wracking. Taking you along for the walks, the sketching, the noticing. Letting the camera witness those quiet creative rituals that refill me.
There is something powerful about documenting the process instead of just the finished piece.
So watch this space… a YouTube channel may be arriving very soon.
If Smidgen of Calm feels like a space you’d love to be part of, you can follow the link to join us. You’re always welcome to take things at your own pace — this really is a little pocket of safety on the internet.
Thank you for being here and for sharing this season with me.
A Little Note About The Smidgen Post
Alongside the community, I’ve also been nurturing something very close to my heart The Smidgen Post.
Each month, The Smidgen Post is a small piece of calm that arrives through the letterbox. A thoughtfully chosen art print, created to be lived with slowly. Pinned to a wall, tucked into a journal, placed somewhere you’ll notice it during your day.
It’s my way of bringing creativity off the screen and back into your hands something tangible, comforting and quietly meaningful.
The prints are rooted in noticing: reflections, nature, memory, and those small in-between moments that often go unseen. Each one is created with intention and care, as a reminder to pause, breathe, and make space for yourself.
The Smidgen Post is available to members of Smidgen of Calm on the premium tier, and prints are sent out on the first of every month.
It feels like a natural extension of everything the community stands for creativity, connection, and finding calm in small, everyday ways.
